INVINCIBLE TITLE SEQUENCE

I had a lot of fun with this project. Invincible is one of my favorite shows that is currently airing, so when I had a project to create a title sequence for a show I jumped at the opportunity. I used Adobe After Effects and Illustrator to animate simple shapes representative of the many characters and plot points that appear in the show’s first season. Super heroes have such iconic shapes and colors, so it works for the piece to show many characters and events in the show without giving them away.

This is a student project that has no affiliation with the brand/show that is depicted. None of my work has been used in an official matter.

SOCIAL POSTS

I Created both vertical and square aspect ratios a shortened segment of the final piece. The idea is that they could be used as social media posts and stories to market the show or encourage engagement online.

ASSETS

I took screenshots of the characters in action, tracing them out and segmenting their arms, heads, legs, and bodies. This made it so I could easily animate the characters, giving personality to the blocks of colors. It also made it easy to put them in cool poses that are right out of the show, making it very clear who each character is supposed to be for viewers who are familiar with the show.

PROCESS

After deciding on my idea, I made a quick story board sketch, getting the rough ideas down of what I wanted to include, and what scenes I wanted to recreate. Once I was happy with my sketches, I went into Adobe Illustrator to start building out some of the assets and representations of characters. This provided me with a high-fidelity story board that I would stick to for the rest of the project. Once I was done with the animation process, I added in the Invincible theme song, cutting it down to match the flow of the final piece. I then added a layer of grain to the piece to make all the elements and pre-comps feel cohesive.
